Superior thermomechanical balance — thermal barrier + mechanical resistance. Manufactured in Barcelona · EN ISO 6942:2022 Code C4 tested
Recycled PBI (polybenzimidazole) fabric combines exceptional thermal protection with the mechanical durability required for demanding service conditions. For engineering teams specifying materials for turnout gear, electric arc protection, or industrial welding garments, our recycled PBI blends deliver the same thermomechanical balance as virgin PBI — with measurable cost and sustainability advantages.
Performance advantages of recycled PBI blends
Thermal barrier (LOI 43): PBI component provides protection against extreme heat, open flames, and electric arc flash. Does not melt or drip.
Mechanical resistance: para-aramid component delivers tensile, tear, and abrasion resistance for heavy-use durability.
Service durability: improved performance retention under repeated heat and mechanical stress versus single-fiber alternatives.
Cost reduction: recycled high-value fibers reduce material cost while maintaining certified performance levels.
Certification: our recycled PBO/PREOX/PARA blend achieves EN ISO 6942:2022 Code C4 (RHTI 24: 124.1 s) and Code A1 flame spread, independently tested by LEITAT.
PREOX — pre-oxidised acrylic fiber
Recycled PREOX (pre-oxidised acrylic, LOI 50) is a flame retardant fiber that does not melt or drip. It is a key component in our high-performance blends, providing an enhanced carbonised flame barrier and boosting overall LOI when combined with PBI, PBO or aramid fibers.
PREOX fibers are recovered from used flame retardant technical textiles — protective clothing, composite materials, industrial felts — and reintroduced into new yarn production without compromising technical performance.
Primary PREOX sectors: rail & transport · aeronautics · industrial PPE · urban infrastructure · thermal and acoustic insulation composites.
